Alpha Systems 7th Annual Conference: Innovative Healthcare Solutions in a New Economy

Huntingdon Valley PA, September 8, 2009 - Alpha Systems, a premier provider of electronic data and document management solutions, held its annual healthcare conference in August at the Seaview Resort and Spa in Galloway, New Jersey. This year's conference included more than 110 attendees from hospitals in the Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania areas. Topics discussed ranged from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to developing lasting connections in a world that is ever changing to calculating strong return on investment projections. As always, we had clients willing to share their Alpha Systems' experiences with the audience, highlighted by an onsite tour of the HIM Department at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center by more than 50 health information management professionals. Attendees walked away from this conference with a wealth of knowledge.

Guest speakers for the two day event included William Trojan, Director of Oncology Program and Dawn Manon, Manager of Health Information Management. The two shared how Alpha Systems worked with their team to build a solution to address the needs of their Oncology Department. This partnership has allowed Alpha Systems to deliver the Cancer Registry Module.

Additionally, the conference concentrated on RAC audits. Focusing on the experience of those hospitals already entrenched in the process. Alpha Systems invited a panel of Health Information Management directors to share their insight with the attendees. The panel included Maryellen McGowan, Director of Health Information Management at Winthrop-University Hospital (Mineola, NY), Elizabeth Kosakowski, Director of Medical Records, St. Elizabeth Medical Center (Utica, NY), and Paul Gaudio, Director of Health Information Management, Norwalk Hospital (Norwalk, CT). This topic provided an opportunity for those in the audience to ask many questions. The guest panelists were helpful and shed light on the issues that weighed heavily on the minds of those yet to participate in the RAC Audit process.
